Most educational software is built by generic enterprise consultants who have never played a competitive tournament game in their lives. They do not understand the agony of a time-trouble blunder, the friction of curating 20 exact endgame positions for an 1100-rated scholastic student, or the sheer exhaustion of explaining to a non-chess parent why their child lost rating points despite studying openings for three weeks.

Competing at the 2000+ Bullet Elo level provided Aarush with unfiltered, firsthand insight into the exact psychological and operational bottlenecks coaches, students, and parents face every single day.

The decision to build ZextaOS came directly from Aarush Kumar's personal experience managing academy operations on legacy chess platforms, most notably Chesslang.

As an active academy manager on Chesslang, he saw firsthand how legacy platforms promised to simplify academy management, but in practice, delivered compounding frustration:

• Server Crashes:Monolithic 2015 databases threw fatal “cannot save database” 500-errors during peak weekend tournament hours, jeopardizing master PGNs and lesson material.
• Lagging Video: Instead of proprietary video, legacy software bolted on open-source Jitsi, forcing students to endure frozen video boards and dropped audio.
• 1990s File Explorers: Navigating static databases through clunky, bloated directory trees wasted hours of coaching prep time.
• The Predatory Per-Student Tax: Charging academies upwards of $4 per student every single month—escalating to over $800/month for growing schools—effectively penalized coaches for succeeding.

It became glaringly obvious that legacy platforms were not reinvesting their profits into engineering. They were paying third-party server bills and reducing features. The chess coaching community desperately needed a genuine, 2026-grade operating system.
