1. Executive Summary & Founder Profile

Founder & Chief Product Architect

Aarush Kumar

Competitive Chess Player (1900 Rapid) • Former Academy Manager • Software Architect

I am Aarush Kumar, the founder and chief product architect of ZextaOS. I founded ZextaOS with a single, non-negotiable objective: to free chess coaches and academy owners from the clunky, crash-prone, and predatory software platforms that have monopolized the chess education sector for the past decade.

Before building ZextaOS, I was on the front lines of chess education, actively working inside a growing chess academy as a Chesslang operations manager. I witnessed firsthand how outdated legacy tools drain tens of thousands of dollars in hidden fees, waste hours of administrative labor, and constantly humiliate coaches with server crashes during high-stakes classes.

I am also an active tournament-level competitor holding a peak 1900 Rapid rating on Lichess (handle: @aarushkumar09). ZextaOS was not conceived in a corporate boardroom by venture capitalists who don't know how the knight moves. It was built by a chess player and academy manager who lived through the exact operational chaos that academy owners battle every week.

2. The Battlefield: Why Managing an Academy on Chesslang Forced Me to Build ZextaOS

Managing an academy with dozens of coaches and hundreds of students is high-pressure work. When you choose an academy management platform, you expect it to function like a high-performance operating system. Instead, using Chesslang felt like running a modern institution on 2014-era legacy scripts.

During my tenure managing academy operations on Chesslang, our coaching staff encountered compounding operational bottlenecks that cost hundreds of hours and severely damaged parent satisfaction:

Peak-Hour Server Outages & Lost PGNs

During weekend batches and simultaneous exhibitions, monolithic database queries would fail with fatal “500 cannot save database” errors. Coaches lost curated opening databases and students were booted mid-game.

Frozen Video via Third-Party Jitsi Bridges

Instead of developing proprietary, low-latency live classrooms, legacy platforms bolted on basic open-source Jitsi embeds. Video frequently de-synchronized from board moves, forcing coaches to waste lesson time resetting browsers.

Clunky 1990s File System Navigation

Drill curation required coaches to click through archaic multi-level tree directories just to assign a 20-puzzle endgame set. Preparing a 60-minute training session took 45 minutes of manual clicking.

The Predatory Per-Student Tax ($800+/mo)

Charging $3 to $4 per enrolled student every single month effectively punishes an academy for growing. Successful academies with 200+ students ended up paying hundreds of dollars monthly for software that rarely released new features.

I realized that legacy software companies had stopped innovating. They were resting on their early-mover advantage, collecting monthly per-seat rents while leaving academy managers and coaches to clean up the mess. That was the moment I committed to engineering ZextaOS from the ground up.

3. Competitive Chess Credentials: Peak 1900 Lichess Rapid

You cannot design high-level training tools for competitive players if you do not understand the game at a deep, intuitive level.

Competing at the 1900 Elo level means I understand:

  • Calculation Fatigue & Time Trouble: Why students make blunders in specific pawn structures and how automated drill sets must isolate those exact tactical blind spots.
  • The Scholastic Rating Plateau (1100 – 1600): Why generic puzzle rushes fail to help scholastic students transition from basic tactics to positional pawn breaks.
  • Coach-Student Dynamics: How critical it is for a trainer to annotate a master game with colored arrows, candidate lines, and engine evaluations without the board lagging by a single millisecond.

4. The Architecture & Mission of ZextaOS

ZextaOS was engineered with three non-negotiable principles that directly counter the shortcomings of legacy platforms:

1. Zero Per-Student Tax: Flat $49/mo Unlimited

We believe software should enable growth, not tax it. Whether your academy has 15 students or 500 students, your software subscription remains predictable and affordable.

2. 100% Native Classroom & Board Infrastructure

ZextMeet and our proprietary board engine were built from scratch for low latency. We do not use third-party video widgets or fork outdated open-source boards. Video, audio, moves, and coach arrows stay in lockstep.

3. Autonomous AI Labor (PAWN AI)

Instead of forcing coaches to spend 10+ hours a week drafting manual progress reports or sorting through 6,000,000 puzzles, PAWN automatically maps student weaknesses, curates targeted 20-puzzle homework buckets, and logs attendance.

5. Direct Founder Desk & Academy Migration Consultations

If you are an academy director, grandmaster, or coach currently stuck on Chesslang or juggling multiple disparate tools (Zoom, WhatsApp, Lichess, Excel), I invite you to reach out directly to my personal inbox.
