ZexChat: Real-time Academy Messaging

Last Updated September 2026

1. Overview

ZexChat is the messaging system built into your academy portal. It replaces the WhatsApp group, the email chain, and the Telegram broadcast that most coaches patch together manually.

Every academy on ZextaOS has ZexChat channels isolated to their own tenant. Your students and coaches can't see messages from other academies on the platform.

2. Channel Types

  • Academy-Wide Broadcasts: Coach-only posting rights. Students receive the message but can't reply. Used for announcements, tournament alerts, and schedule changes.
  • Group Channels: Two-way messaging between coaches and a defined group of students. Useful for batch classes or skill-level groups.
  • Direct Messages: One-to-one messaging between coach and student. Visible to the coach and the specific student only.

3. Message Storage & Retention

ZexChat messages are encrypted in transit and at rest. Messages may be retained on our servers for legal compliance and abuse prevention even if a student account is deleted. ZexChat is not an end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) service.
